Small Mediterranean plant, oregano has oval leaves and pink-red flowers; its essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the dried flowering plant.

THE MOST COMMON USES OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF OREGANO

This essential oil is very useful in diseases bronchopulmonary: fluidizes the bronchial secretions, and is antispasmodic and sedative of the access of the cough, is very active in the treatment of pneumonia, bronchitis, tracheitis, asthma, pulmonary emphysema, influenza, and sinusitis. Antiseptic and antibacterial the essential oil of oregano is indicated for the disinfection of wounds, ulcers, wounds and burns.
It also stimulates the blood circulation and the rebuilding of the tissues, and is suitable in all skin diseases, like eczema, itching, dermatitis, fungal infections, psoriasis.
Stomachic and carminative, stimulates and facilitates digestion, fights bloating and lack of appetite. Analgesic and sedative, the essential oil of oregano is used in clutches and massage to combat muscle pain and rheumatic diseases.

SOME MODES OF USE OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF OREGANO

- Arthritis, lumbago, pains and stiffness in muscles, rheumatism, sprains, prepare a mixture with 30 ml of sunflower oil, grape seed, 6 drops of essential oil of oregano, 3 drops eucalyptus and 2 drops of cypress; use the mix to massage on the affected areas.
- Colic, constipation, dyspepsia, flatulence: dilute a drop of oregano in a tablespoon of sweet almond oil and use the mixture for the practice of a gentle massage in circular motion on the abdomen and belly.
-Cough and phlegm: Place 2 drops of essential oil of oregano in a tablespoon of sweet almond oil and apply the mixture on the chest with a massage. Alternatively, put 2-3 drops of oregano in a bowl with hot water and exposed to the vapors covering the head.

If used pure, it can be irritating to skin and mucous membranes. Do not use in pregnancy.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
