Mass Gainer Supplements
Mass gainers are food supplements useful for the improvement of performance in sports or in bodybuilding, to the increase of calorie intake and, consequently, to the increase of muscle mass.
The weight gainers are composed of carbohydrates (high-and low-glycemic index), proteins (caseins and whey), vitamins, minerals, creatine, L-arginine, amino acids, enzymes (to aid digestion) and plant extracts (for adaptogen effect).
Gainers (hired after supplements pre - and intra-workout) are used by bodybuilders, athletes of strength, both amateur and professional, as a food supplement aimed at optimising the recovery and the increase in muscle mass.
Gainers are specific products to use post workout and should not be confused with the supplements maltodextrin or of the branched chain amino acids BCAA (to take before-during the performance).
With the practice ofintensive exercise and the consumption of energy reserves (mainly carbohydrates and amino acids), occurs the release of catabolic hormones such as glucagon, catecholamines, and in some cases, the cortisol. These mediators are intended to increase the levels of energy substrates, and then the glucose (from glycogen and neoglucogenesi) and the levels of fatty acids (free and in triglycerides in lipoproteins).
While the endurance athletes these hormones are considered to be very valuable, as they ensure the availability of energy, for bodybuilders, bodybuilders, and strength athletes represent an obstacle to the building of muscle mass (catabolic effect on muscle tissue).
